Strategy · Field notes 01
A click is a beginning. What happens next matters more.
Clicks, enquiries and qualified conversations tell different stories. Here is how to keep them connected.

Give every stage a clear meaning
An ad click tells you that something earned attention. An enquiry tells you someone took another step. Neither, on its own, tells you whether that person is a good fit for the business.
Define what a qualified enquiry means with the people who answer calls and messages. Location, project scope, timing and the service needed can all help describe fit. A shared definition makes reporting more useful than a list of platform numbers.

Connect the ad to the conversation
The offer in an ad should match the landing page and the questions in the form. If those three pieces describe different things, the sales team has to repair the misunderstanding later.
Follow the journey as a visitor would. Read the ad, open the page on a phone and try the form. Check whether the next step is clear, whether the page answers obvious questions and whether a person knows what to expect after enquiring.
Keep a feedback loop
A simple lead log can bring marketing and sales into the same conversation. Record where an enquiry came from, whether contact was made and why it progressed or stopped. Use consistent labels rather than long, different notes for every lead.
Patterns in that feedback can suggest the next question to investigate: unclear pricing, the wrong location, a missing service detail or a follow-up delay. Treat the pattern as a starting point for a test, rather than proof of a single cause.
Report the whole journey
A useful review separates attention, enquiries, qualification and signed work. It also records what could not be measured. That makes it easier to explain what the campaign influenced and what depends on the wider customer experience.
The goal is a clearer decision about what to improve next: the message, the page, the form or the handoff. The most useful number is the one that helps the team take that next step.
